morning with my MANhattan: a photo diary

A very specific skill set I own is I’m able to rationalize almost anything. Bag of candy for dinner? It’s delicious and nutritious (not really)! Chipotle for the fourth day in a row? It’s cheaper than going to the school’s cafeteria every day! Obviously, 99.9% of my rationalizing revolves around food. #sorrynotsorry

photo by the great ZB Stern! check out her insta here.

When one of my favorite gal pals, Zoe Batt Stern, informed me that she would be in NYC for the duration of New York Fashion Week, I knew that I was going to be making it into the city no matter what.

It was easy to rationalize the insanity of waking up at the devil’s hour (AKA 6 am) in order to train into Grand Central Station, the main hub of Manhattan. Especially because I was greeted by a delish breakfast, a juicy gossip sesh, and a fresh walk in the Big Apple. (Make that 100% about food.)

Plus, it gave me some time to myself with my favorite Man(hattan). Even though I spent 10 weeks living in NYC last summer, bopping around from the Upper West Side all the way down to the Financial District, I can’t help but still feel incredibly like a tourist.

I caught myself just staring, dumbfounded, one too many times up at the insane skyscrapers that surround you everywhere you go (and caught a few people staring at me staring at the buildings… I may or may not have been stopping in the middle of sidewalks to do this). I brought my Canon Rebel T4i with me in case I found a few shots that I couldn’t bear to only capture with the simplicity of the iPhone.

The first ones were primarily taken in Chelsea, while the last few were in Bryant Park. Anybody else notice that the weather was ridiculously superb?! Diggin’ it.

What are your favorite spots in Manhattan?

What little corners or streets have you found that you’re obsessed with?

  • Apparently “LET’S GO KNICKERS” is not an appropriate chant at Madison Square Garden because basketball players don’t like to be called underwear.
  • lol bye 2017. as terrifyingly as you started, you turned out pretty rad, and now it’s time to take on 2018. LESS GEAUX
