It’s a Party in the USA: Rooftop Bars and Hot Dogs

Happy Independence Day, you patriotic people. I hope you all spent the weekend knee-deep in hot dogs, fireworks, and sweat. If you didn’t, then what were you doing?

Not celebrating America’s birthday in the most ‘Murica way, that’s what.

As for me? I’ve been able to cross a few more things off of my 101 things in 1001 days list! The weekend was only amplified by the company I spent it with. I’m pretty lucky with the people I surround myself with, if I do say so myself.

5. Chill at a rooftop bar / rooftop restaurant / rooftop anything!

A couple weekends ago, a fellow intern of mine, Zoe (check out her blog here!), had an in at the exclusive Gansevoort Park Hotel. Access is only granted to those who know someone who is staying at the hotel, so I’ll be honest – I felt pretty bad ass walking through those doors!

I went with fellow LGC interns and friends Zoe and Dakota (pictured at the far right and second to the left), and dorm friend Ashley, who interns at Mix Apparel.

While the bar inside was pretty nice, the rooftop gave views that demolished any competition. NYC summer nights can’t be beat.

22. Devour a hot dog at Coney Island.

Boy, did I ever!

When it comes to food, I’m rarely picky. When it comes to junk food, I’m never picky. Let me clarify – when it comes to junk food, I’m the opposite of picky. I gravitate towards it, drawn to it like Miley Cyrus to bad behavior, like a Portland hipster to a compost bin.

Let’s just say I fulfilled this item on my list as enthusiastically as it could have been.

  • Apparently “LET’S GO KNICKERS” is not an appropriate chant at Madison Square Garden because basketball players don’t like to be called underwear.
