i like to be in america!

Sure, in West Side Story they had come from Puerto Rico and not Peru, but I think the concept is still the same. I couldn’t resist singing the classic “I Like to be in America!” as I stepped foot onto the Miami International Airport after seven weeks abroad.

To put it simply: this has been the most epic and adventurous summer of my short, 22 year life. From the high desert of beautiful Colorado (you’ll find some of those photos sprinkled in here) to the depths of the Amazon & to the beaches of Cerro Azul, the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu to the marketplaces of Cusco, the country of Peru has been thoroughly conquered by 18 crazy, llama-lovin’ kiddos. I have no idea how I got so ridiculously lucky to work with such kick-ass kids and one seriously amazing co-leader, my Peru partner-in-crime Mr. Cody Steele. huge shout out to the company that made it all happen, Bold Earth!

I can’t even begin to explain the insanity and awesome-ness of the past seven weeks, so I’m gonna let the photos do most of the work.

  • Apparently “LET’S GO KNICKERS” is not an appropriate chant at Madison Square Garden because basketball players don’t like to be called underwear.
